Harris mocked for ‘fake’ southern accent during Georgia rally

Vice President Kamala Harris sparked a wave of criticism on social media when she suddenly appeared to adopt a Southern accent during a speech in Atlanta.

“You helped us win in 2020 and we’re going to win again in 2024,” Harris, a California native, told rally-goers in Atlanta, appearing to debut her new accent.

The accent quickly caught the attention of critics on social media, who accused the Democratic front-runner of pandering to his audience.

“Kamala Harris spoke in Atlanta and now she has a Southern accent,” Outkick founder Clay Travis said on X, also sharing footage of the moment. “Why would they do this? It’s so fake.”

“Do people do this with other regional accents?” Travis wondered in a follow-up post. “I don’t think so. No one goes to Massachusetts and suddenly sounds like the Kennedys. Only in the South.”

Travis’ post received several replies from people criticizing the vice president’s accent.

“That’s what sociopaths do,” one reply read.

“This is called mirroring and is a strong narcissistic tendency,” said another.

The moment also caught the attention of Conservative columnist Ian Howarth.

“Kamala Harris’ fake Southern accent puts Hillary Clinton to shame,” Howarth said on X, referring to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s widely mocked use of a Southern accent. Southern accent At different stages of her political career.

The news comes as Ms Harris is trying to gain a foothold in the campaign after rising to the top of the Democratic field last week in Georgia, one of the key battleground states that will determine November’s election.
