Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said on CNBC's “Squawk Box” on Monday that Vice President Kamala Harris isn't available for interviews because of her “demanding schedule.”
Host Joe Kernen said, “I know you represent her, but the American people are not happy. The media is not happy about the access. She did one interview, which was recorded and cut and some little things leaked out of it. But it was a masterful way of dodging questions, and she herself didn't reveal anything. It could have been a tidbit from policy makers, or it could have been revealed in print or on the teleprompter of her scripted speeches. But she's not giving access, so you can't find out anything. Don't you think the American people deserve that?”
“Yes, I understand your point, but I respectfully disagree,” Raimondo said. “This is just not like any other presidential election. She has only a few weeks to do it all. She's spending her time speaking to the American people. She's going everywhere and doing a grueling schedule to meet with the people who want her to win. But we're going to find out tomorrow night. It's going to be an intense debate.”
