Harris ‘Not Smart Enough to Do a News Conference’

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday mocked Vice President Kamala Harris’ strategy as the Democratic nominee to avoid unscripted interviews.

Harris has not given an interview or press conference since entering the presidential race 18 days ago and may continue to avoid the press until Labor Day, 25 days from now, a longtime ally of hers told Politico’s The West Wing Playbook on Wednesday.

“Excuse me, what are we doing right now?” Trump asked at a news conference at Mar-a-Lago. “She’s not doing a press conference.”

“You know why she won’t do it? It’s because she can’t do a press conference,” Trump said. “She doesn’t know how to do a press conference. She’s not smart enough to do a press conference.”

“It’s unfortunate,” Trump continued, “because our country has never been in this kind of danger before, both economically and from an outside perspective, we need smart people to lead this country.”

Avoiding media questions appears to be Harris’ strategy, Democrats acknowledged last week, and the media appears to be growing frustrated, Politico Playbook reported. report Thursday:

Harris is starting to face questions about why she isn’t doing more in the press, and those questions are only going to grow: Our colleagues at The West Wing Playbook report that her campaign is planning a major joint interview with her and Waltz, but they are generally skeptical that such an opportunity would add much value to the election.

Harris, known for her wordy delivery, made two gaffes during unscripted remarks in August. It is called In his memorial speech for the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, he referred to himself as “President.” Delivered Word salad during unscripted comments about a hostage deal with Russia.

“This is a great testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and the strength that comes from understanding the importance of diplomacy…” she said.

More Harris word salad here.

Harris may be avoiding the media out of fear of answering questions about her far-left policies. She has already appeared to back away from many of the policies she previously supported, raising concerns about whether voters can trust her. Neither she nor her campaign staff have fully embraced the policy shift in public statements.
