On Monday's Fox News Channel broadcast of “Fox & Friends,” Mark Schmitz, father of Corporal Jared Schmitz, who was killed in the Abbey Gate bombing in Afghanistan in 2021, said that Vice President and 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is “as responsible” for the messy withdrawal from Afghanistan as President Joe Biden, and that Harris is “following the policies that Joe Biden put in place when he was president. And apparently, neither of them know.”[s] It scares me, what are they doing?”
Schmitz said Biden “has never publicly named them to this day. Kamala Harris claims she was in the room until the end. She's just as responsible as Biden. She's following policies that Joe Biden put in place when he was president. And, obviously, he doesn't know about either of them.”[s] It’s horrifying what they’re doing. We know we can’t bring our kids back, but we want military families who are in the field right now to never go through what we went through. It’s just so disgraceful. It’s just so unbelievably disgusting the way our families have been treated. Because we’ve never been briefed. Nobody’s been fired. In fact, they’re promoting people who probably don’t even have jobs anymore. … CENTCOM, the cover-up never stopped from the beginning. We went to CENTCOM to be briefed on the latest report, and they continue to say there was no gunfire after the explosion. We knew that was a lie, but then shortly after, you know, the video surfaced and it showed all of the gunfire that happened after the fact. We just don’t understand why they keep lying, and it’s got to stop now.”
