Former Vice President Harris criticized Trump in her keynote address at the Emeljugala on Wednesday, marking her initial official engagements since assuming office in January, according to sources from Hill.
In her speech, the former vice president, who faced off against President Trump in November, is anticipated to deliver sharp critiques of the current administration, sources indicated.
Harris is also likely to acknowledge the organization for its efforts in empowering women in politics, calling for action against Trump’s economic policies, and motivating him to pursue a complete revitalization of the federal government.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary at the Gala, Emelge is an organization dedicated to recruiting and training Democratic women. Harris collaborated with Andrea Dew Steel, co-founder of Emelge, when she ran for San Francisco district attorney in 2003.
Earlier this month, Harris unexpectedly appeared at the Black Women Leadership Summit in California, telling attendees, “I’m not going anywhere.” She also signed with the entertainment company Creative Artists Agency (CAA) earlier this year.
There has been speculation about whether Harris is considering a run for California governor in 2026, with expectations of a formal decision by the end of summer. Early polls suggest that if Harris decides to run, she will be among the leading Democratic candidates. In a February survey by Emerson College Voting/California Politics/Hill, the former vice president captured nearly six out of ten potential major voters.
