Harris slightly improves lead over Trump in battleground states: Poll

New polls show Vice President Harris has widened her lead over former President Trump in battleground states, but the race remains close.

The poll, CBS News and YouGovAccording to a survey by the Democratic presidential nominee, Harris widened her lead in battleground states after the presidential debate, with 51 percent of the votes cast to Trump's 49 percent. The battleground states included in the survey are Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Both sides have been working hard to win over voters in key battleground states, and it may be working for Harris.

Although previously projected to be states Trump would win, The Hill/Decision Desk has now changed North Carolina and Georgia to swing states.

Nationally, Harris holds a four-point lead with 52 percent to Trump's 48 percent, according to the poll.

Ms Harris has also made gains among voters who say the economy is a big issue, narrowing the gap from a 13-point lead for Mr Trump in August to just 6 points.

More voters are likely to say the economy is doing better than it did in August.

CBS noted that Harris' performance in the debate was widely seen as a win-win, bolstering her support among Biden's former supporters who were wavering about the vice president.

Surveys show that voters who say policy is very important are divided, but personally they like him much more than Trump.

During a debate, Trump falsely claimed that Haitian immigrants eat pets, but he didn't lose any support from his base.

While a majority of voters believe Springfield's claims about immigration are false, two-thirds of Trump supporters support the former president's claims even if they are proven false.

The poll was conducted Sept. 18-20 among 3,129 registered voters and has a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points.
