Biden’s Debate Hesitation Highlighted by Harris
In a recent podcast, former Vice President Kamala Harris remarked that Joe Biden seemed reluctant to engage in a debate with Donald Trump in 2024. She described a feeling that “something was a little different” before Biden’s notable debate performance, which many viewed as detrimental to his campaign.
During her appearance on the CEO Diary podcast, host Stephen Bartlett pointed out that it was clear something was “not okay” with Biden as he prepared to debate, questioning why the Democratic Party is acting as if everything is fine.
While Harris didn’t outright say Biden was unfit, she shared her perspective on what might have contributed to his struggle during the debate. “It’s like any competition you enter,” she explained. “If you don’t want to compete, it’s going to impact how you perform.” She suggested that he was hesitant to engage in the argument.
Bartlett pressed her for signs that indicated Biden’s apprehension. Harris noted that they had discussed those feelings. “Sometimes in debates, something goes awry,” she said, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of such events. “We saw what we saw,” she added, implying an overall disappointment.
Following the debate, she expressed frustration, conveying her belief that Biden missed opportunities to address key military failures, particularly referencing the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, which resulted in U.S. service members’ deaths.
Harris expressed shock at Biden’s responses during the debate, claiming he overlooked significant questions about military issues, including the tragic attack that defined his administration. “It’s astonishing,” she mentioned, recalling the moment when testifying about the previous president’s controversial remarks about fallen soldiers.
In light of the challenges from the debate, it appears both Biden and Harris have maintained a low profile since their presidential loss in 2024. Comments or insights from Biden’s representatives about this matter have yet to be made public.
