During Tuesday's debate, Vice President Harris sought to anger the former President Trump by criticizing his remarks at rallies and mocking his digressions about windmills and fictional characters.
“I encourage everyone to go to a Donald Trump rally because it's going to be really interesting to watch,” Harris said.
“He talks about fictional characters like Hannibal Lecter. He talks about windmills bringing cancer,” she continued. “You'll also notice that people leave his meetings early out of fatigue and boredom. And the one thing he won't talk about is you.”
Trump was clearly upset by the remark and demanded a response.
“She said people are starting to leave. People are not coming to her rallies,” Trump said. “So she can't talk about that. People are not leaving my rallies.”
Harris has been drawing large, enthusiastic audiences at rallies since replacing President Biden as the Democratic candidate in late July, and her campaign has delighted in riling up Trump about crowd sizes.
Trump, who typically draws thousands of people to his rallies, has also falsely claimed that one of the crowds at Harris' rallies was generated by artificial intelligence.
Harris' campaign released an ad early Tuesday featuring former President Barack Obama mocking Trump's obsession with crowd size.
