Harris, Trump in close races in key swing states: Polling

According to a new CNN poll, the race between Vice President Harris and former President Trump is close in the three battleground states of Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania, with no clear leader emerging.

The survey found that: Released on WednesdayThe poll shows Harris leading Trump by one point among voters in Georgia (48 percent to 47 percent) and Nevada (48 percent to 47 percent). In Pennsylvania, the poll shows both candidates tied at 47 percent among their voters.

The vice president's advantages in Georgia and Nevada are not statistically significant, with each state having a maximum margin of error of 4.9 percentage points.

Meanwhile, the poll shows Harris leading by six points in Wisconsin (50 percent to 44 percent) and five points in Michigan (48 percent to 43 percent), but Trump is leading Harris by five points in Arizona (49 percent to 44 percent).

President Biden won all six of those states in the 2020 election, but Georgia and Pennsylvania will be crucial for either candidate in 2024. Among voters in those states who say they have already chosen a candidate, 11% in the Peach State say they might change their mind, and 15% in the Keystone State say they might change their mind.

Harris has enjoyed a ratings surge since replacing Biden as the top Democratic candidate, with a four-point lead over Trump (49.4 percent to 45.4 percent) in a national poll conducted by The Hill/Decision Desk Questioner (DDHQ).

Harris' average approval ratings in the three battleground states of Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania show a similar picture to CNN's latest poll, with her leading by less than one percentage point in each state.

The Democratic candidate's biggest advantage is in Wisconsin, where he has a 3.4-point lead, according to the DDHQ average. In Michigan, he has an average lead of 1.6 points. In Arizona, the polling average has him roughly tied with his Republican rival, according to the survey.

The CNN poll, conducted August 23-29, included 682 voters in Arizona, 617 voters in Georgia, 708 voters in Michigan, 626 voters in Nevada, 789 voters in Pennsylvania, and 976 voters in Wisconsin. Each poll had a margin of error between 4.5% and 4.9 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.
