Again, it's all about economics.
With just over six weeks until Election Day on November 5th and a growing number of states offering early voting and absentee voting, numerous polls agree on several key points.
First, the race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Trump, which will determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, is within the margin of error.
Second, while Harris has a large advantage among voters on the issue of abortion, Trump has an equally large lead on the border and immigration.

Third, the economy remains a top concern for American voters as they prepare to cast their ballots in the presidential election.
“The economy is at the top of voters' concerns” was the headline of a new AP/NORC national poll conducted after the first, and likely only, debate between the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates last week.
Nearly eight in 10 people surveyed said the economy was one of the issues they should prioritize above all others.

In a national Fox News poll conducted immediately after the debate, 39% of voters surveyed said the economy was the most pressing issue, well ahead of immigration (16%) and abortion (15%). All other issues surveyed were in the single digits.
Nearly every other survey puts the economy as the top priority.

As the nation's economic recovery from the pandemic-induced recession continues, inflation remains a top concern for Americans.
“More people say food prices and housing costs are tough for their families,” the Fox News poll noted.
Trump continues to hold the lead when it comes to which presidential candidate would have better control over the economy, but the margin of support for Trump over Harris varies widely across polls.
A post-debate poll by The New York Times/Siena College gave the former president a 13-point lead over the vice president, and a post-debate ABC News-Ipsos poll gave him a 7-point lead.
But Trump's advantage over Harris on the economy is just five points in the Fox News poll and just two points in the Associated Press-NORC poll.

“The stakes in this election remain in Trump's favor,” said Daron Shaw, a Republican pollster who runs the Fox News poll with Democrat Chris Anderson.
But Shaw added that Trump's “edge on economic issues has diminished. Perhaps Harris' message on housing costs and taxes, which is targeted at the middle class, appears to be working.”

What's driving President Trump on the economy is clearly fond memories of his time in the White House.

Voters questioned in the Fox News poll said by a 17-point margin that President Trump's economic policies have been more helpful than harmful, but by a 24-point margin they said President Biden's economic policies have been more harmful than helpful.
“The perception that Trump's policies have served him better than Biden's policies has placed a heavy burden on Harris in this campaign and shows why a central theme she has tried to emphasize is 'turning the page,'” Anderson said.
