Harris will not speak from Howard University as scheduled, calls it a night

Vice President Kamala Harris will not speak to supporters tonight from her alma mater in Washington, D.C., as previously scheduled.

Harris campaign co-chairman Cedric Richmond briefly addressed the crowd at Howard University early Wednesday morning, informing them that Harris will address voters at the university on Wednesday. Exactly when that will happen has not been revealed.

Despite the bleak outlook for Democrats as of that night; Mr. Richmond told those gathered at Howard. “There were still votes left to be counted.”

“There are still states that have not yet convened,” Richmond added. “We will continue to fight through the night to ensure every vote is counted and every voice is heard.”

Before Richmond spoke and Harris informed the audience that she would not speak as originally planned, people gathered at Howard were shown leaving the grounds as the momentum in the race appeared to tilt in favor of Republicans. The video began to spread online.

The city of Richmond signaled that Harris would vote early overnight, about an hour before President-elect Donald Trump's campaign was to be called. Republicans regained the Senate majority as of late Tuesday night, and it remains possible that Republicans could win a supermajority if they win enough in the House.
