Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker Wife Isabel Nearly a month after his controversial commencement speech, he appeared on the red carpet at the team’s Super Bowl 2024 ring ceremony in Kansas City on Thursday.
Butker, 28, wore a cream tuxedo and black bow tie and smiled next to Isabel, who was dressed in a green dress and accessorized with the two Super Bowl rings she won when the Chiefs won championships in the 2019 and 2022 seasons.
The ring, which the world champion Chiefs received on Thursday following their Super Bowl win over the 49ers in February, features 529 diamonds and 38 rubies. According to the team.
The three-time Super Bowl champion came under fire last month for comments he made during a commencement speech at Benedictine University in Kansas that touched on a range of topics, including politics, religion and cultural issues.
In her speech, Butker said women have “been told the worst lies” and that the title “housewife” is one of the most important titles a woman can hold.
“Some of you will have successful careers in the world, but for most of you, what you are most looking forward to is marriage and the children that will come into this world. My beautiful wife, Isabel, would be the first to say that her life truly began when she began her mission as a wife and mother,” Butker told the Catholic facility.
Butker was heavily criticized for his sexist and homophobic comments, with media figures including Michelle Beadle and Lisa Guerrero also slamming the NFL pro.
Following the controversy, Chiefs teammates quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce publicly praised Butker’s character but distanced themselves from his opinions.
“I’ve known him for over seven years, probably over eight years, and I value him as a teammate. Like Pat said, he’s a great person in every way, a great teammate, and he’s treated my friends and family that I’ve introduced him to with respect and kindness, and he treats everybody the same,” Kelce said on the “New Heights” podcast in May.
“His views and his [Benedictine College] “The commencement speech was his. I can’t say I agree with most or even any of it, except that he loves his family and his children. I don’t think we should judge him on his views, especially his religious views on how to live life. That’s not me.”
Butker, entering his eighth season with the Chiefs, said last month he stands by his words.
“This is a conscious decision that I made and I don’t regret it at all,” Butker said at the Regina Caeli Academy’s Courage Under Fire gala in Nashville.
The kicker attended the Super Bowl celebration at the White House on May 31 with the Chiefs, despite slamming President Joe Biden’s speech.
Butker and Isabel married in 2018 and have two children.
