Allegations Against Graham Platner Draw Attention
Streamer Hasan Piker shared his views on the sexual assault allegations against Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner during a Twitch live stream on Monday, calling the claims “highly credible and indefensible.”
As he discussed a report from Politico, which detailed an allegation from one of Platner’s former girlfriends, Piker addressed the serious nature of the accusations.
The accuser, Jenny Racicot, alleged that Platner forced her to have sex nearly five years ago during a tumultuous relationship. She stated that he entered her home uninvited and intoxicated, and, despite her repeated pleas for him to stop, he allegedly continued.
“There is no question that he violated this person’s consent,” Piker remarked, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
He noted this incident differed from previous allegations made by another ex-girlfriend, Lindsay Fifield, who accused Platner of physical abuse, claiming he left her bruised and locked her in a room overnight.
Racicot also mentioned to the New York Times that she severed ties with Platner due to his reckless behavior when drinking.
Piker had previously defended Platner against Fifield’s claims, suggesting her connections to the Heritage Foundation indicated ulterior motives. He dismissed her allegations as lacking significant impact.
Reflecting on the situation, Piker stated, “I don’t care about Graham Platner’s personal personality…unless it was literally irredeemable.”
