Crime in a fan-favorite summer vacation destination has reached new heights, with police now urging beachgoers to keep their valuables with them while swimming in the beautiful waters of Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) Social Media Posts On Saturday, people were urged to take valuables into the ocean rather than leaving them on the beach.
“Beachgoers should not leave valuables on the sand, but instead use waterproof bags that can be taken into the water,” HPD said.

The recommendation surprised some, with residents and tourists taking to social media to comment on the request.
“Is this a joke?” one person wrote.
“Why not arrest, prosecute and jail the criminals?” said another.

The media outlet reported that police reported more than 160 cases of theft in the area that month.
