The famous “Hawk Toa Girl” appeared as a special guest at the New York Mets on Thursday, throwing the ceremonial first pitch before the game.
The “Hawk Tua Girl” was Hallie Welch, a Tennessee girl who gained fame for her now infamous response when asked what “behavior” in the bedroom would make a man “go crazy.”
“Oh, you’ve got to make a pitch… you’ve got to spit on that thing, you know,” she said in Nashville over Country Music Awards weekend.

The video became an instant hit on TikTok, then spread everywhere, and though Welch, 21, initially kept a low profile, she’s now taking advantage of the opportunity.
Last month, she made a reported $30,000 after appearing at a South Florida pool club wearing a Tua Tagovailoa shirt.
She put her athleticism to the test on the mound Thursday in a day game between the Mets and Oakland Athletics.
Welch’s appearance caused a big stir.
“So the Mets decided to have Hawk-Tour Girl, whose fans were mostly 11-year-old kids who came to the ballpark on a camping trip, throw the first pitch during their summer ‘camp day’ games. What were they really thinking? Pitch a better pitch.” A user wrote to X.

“What a terrible, terrible decision to legitimize her and give her a platform.” Another person said.
Other users called it “pathetic” and “disgusting.”

Some people defended Welch, saying she didn’t sign up to go viral, and that she has made charitable donations since becoming famous on social media.
The Mets squandered a 5-0 lead against the Athletics, losing 7-6 in the longest nine-inning game in the pitch-timer era (3 hours and 45 minutes). Many now believe Welch has cursed the 2024 Mets.

Of course, that remains to be seen, but Thursday may have been the Mets’ worst loss of the season.
