Hawks get No 1 pick in 2024 NBA Draft despite 3% chance to win lottery

In the NBA Draft Lottery, the Atlanta Hawks had a shocking result of winning the No. 1 overall pick despite having only a 3% chance of winning.

This is the first time the Hawks have had the No. 1 pick since 1975, when they drafted five-time All-Star and NBA Hall of Famer David Thompson. However, since the draft lottery had not yet been established, this was the first time he had been acquired.

Hawks general manager Landry Fields was all smiles when he heard his team’s name called, probably in disbelief since the chances of his team being selected were so slim. Ta.

The Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards, who had the league’s worst record of 14 wins and 68 losses, were unbelievable because they had the highest odds of winning the No. 1 pick at 14%.

Instead, Washington was given the No. 2 pick, and the Pistons received the No. 5 pick for the third year in a row, despite having the league’s worst record in consecutive seasons.

Now, Atlanta has the opportunity to select the player they think is the best overall prospect.

French small forward Zachary Lizacher and center Alexandre Sarr are at the top, along with college standout center Donovan Clingan.

However, unlike in last year’s draft, Victor Wembaneyama is not an easy pick to pick in the first place.
