Haley Williams Addresses “Racist Country Singer” Lyric

Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams recently confirmed that her album features lyrics aimed at country star Morgan Wallen. During a discussion on the New York Times Podcast, she explained what inspired her song, “Ego Death at a Bakerolet Party at Ego Death.”

The specific lyrics in question include, “I will be the biggest star in this racist country singer’s bar.” Williams, when prompted about the identity behind the lyric, mentioned that it could be about any musician but admitted Wallen was definitely in her thoughts while writing.

She voiced her feelings bluntly, saying, “I’m always talking about Morgan Wallen. I don’t give a… find me at Whole Foods. I just don’t care.” Clearly, she’s not holding back her opinions.

Williams was also candid about her emotions regarding racial issues, revealing she isn’t quite ready to address them loudly, mentioning that they intertwine with various societal topics, from climate change to LGBTQIA rights.

Interestingly, Wallen has yet to respond to her statements. A request for comment from Fox News Digital remains unanswered.

Back in February 2021, Wallen faced backlash after being caught on video using a racial slur while speaking to a friend. He later discussed the incident, claiming it was a moment of poor judgment among friends and describing it as an ignorant mistake.

A few months post-incident, Wallen took to social media to apologize to his fans, admitting to making mistakes in 2020 and discussing challenges he faced, including public scrutiny and personal issues.
