Haley Williams Opens Up About Morgan Wallen in New Song

Haley Williams usually keeps a bit of mystery about who inspires her lyrics, but this time she made an exception. The Paramore frontwoman has revealed that her latest track, “Ego Death at the Bachelorette Party,” is about Morgan Wallen.

The song features the line, “I will be the biggest star in this racist country singer’s bar.” Williams was a bit playful when discussing the subject: “It could be a couple,” she noted on a recent episode of the “Popcast” podcast. But it seems she doesn’t shy away from naming Wallen specifically.

Williams stated, “Find me on Whole Foods, and I don’t care,” making her feelings about the singer clear.

A representative for Wallen has been contacted for comments regarding this situation.

This isn’t the first time Wallen has faced backlash from other artists. Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris have previously criticized him after an incident where he used a racial slur in 2021.

Ballerini expressed her disappointment on social media at the time, mentioning that “Nashville’s tonight news doesn’t represent country music.” Morris shared that Wallen’s actions were not surprising, pointing out that he recently broke streaming records but that behavior like his often reflects a broader issue in the industry.

Wallen, under scrutiny, took responsibility for his actions, stating, “I have disappointed a lot of people.” He has sought to educate himself by meeting with leaders in the Black music community.

Wallen noted, “There are no excuses. I’ve never made excuses,” and emphasized his commitment to understanding the impact of his words.

However, trouble didn’t stop there for Wallen. In April 2024, he was arrested after a bar incident in Nashville where he allegedly threw a chair from a roof. He later expressed regret for his actions on social media, saying he accepted responsibility and was working to rectify the situation.

In December, he pleaded guilty to multiple charges stemming from this altercation.

Despite the controversies, not everyone is turned off by Wallen. Christine Cavalari, during an appearance on a podcast, labeled him a “good guy” but agreed that he has a reputation as a “player.” She described Walin as someone who seemed to enjoy casual relationships.

Perhaps Wallen’s complicated persona—talented yet troubled—will continue to be a topic of discussion in the music world.
