HBO Streaming Service Reverting to HBO Max From Max

(UPI) – HBO has revealed plans to revert the streaming service’s name from MAX back to HBO MAX this summer.

Initially launched as HBO Max in 2020, the HBO part of the title was dropped in 2023 as the parent company aimed to carve out a distinct identity.

During the Warner Bros Discovery Presentation in New York on Wednesday, the company confirmed this return to its former name.

JB Perrette, the president and CEO of Streaming, mentioned, “While consumers today don’t say they want more content, most consumers say they want better content.”

He added that the decision to reinstate HBO in the name shows WBD’s commitment to their strategy, which is heavily influenced by consumer data and insights.

In celebration of this change, the company has shared a humorous video featuring the reunion of a beloved TV couple, set to Pat Benatar’s classic song “We Belong.”

HBO Max will be back this summer, proving we belong together.
