Data Analyst Debunks MAGA Split Theory
On Wednesday, CNN’s chief data analyst, Harry Enten, dismissed the idea of a division within the MAGA movement, stating that polls indicate President Trump enjoys 100% support among Republicans. “Sometimes, you come across polling data that really stands out, and this is definitely one of those cases,” Enten remarked, referencing an NBC News poll that shows Trump’s approval rating among MAGA-aligned Republicans at a perfect score.
He humorously noted, “You don’t have to be a math genius to not be able to beat 100%.” He even likened Trump to the 1972 Miami Dolphins, the only NFL team to complete a perfect season.
The poll results emerge as some of Trump’s most dedicated supporters within the Republican Party are raising unverified claims regarding multiple issues, including the Iran war and the recent release of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
While Enten acknowledged that “there are some Republicans” who don’t back Trump, he emphasized that these individuals do not identify as part of the MAGA movement. “If you’re a MAGA member, you approve of Donald Trump,” he stated firmly.
Enten further refuted the MAGA split theory, claiming that support for Trump within the Republican Party isn’t declining; in fact, it appears to be “slightly larger” compared to its standing in 2024.
The recent poll, highlighting Trump’s flawless approval rating, also revealed that the percentage of Americans identifying as MAGA has risen to 30%, up from 28% in November 2024.
“The theme of this segment is ‘Forget Tucker Carlson,’” Enten expressed, referencing the conservative commentator who has consistently criticized the Iran war, leading Trump to recently assert that Carlson is “not a MAGA.”
Enten concluded that the MAGA base within the Republican Party “is not shrinking…if anything, it’s slightly larger than it was in 2024.” According to him, this poll underscores the strength of Trump’s influence on the MAGA base.
