Head of Trump PAC predicts 'cannibalistic chaos' if Dems replace Biden

The head of a primary super PAC supporting former President Trump said the possibility of replacing President Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee is “impossible” and would effectively mean the party’s defeat in the November election.

Taylor Budowicz, CEO of Make America Great Again In an editorial In an article published in The Wall Street Journal on Monday, he argued that last-minute efforts to round up the Democratic field into one candidate to replace Biden would lead to an “epic political fight” and billions of dollars would be funneled into multiple “futile campaigns.”

“There are no easy answers; in fact, they are incredibly difficult and, given the time, entirely unrealistic,” Budowicz wrote, “especially given the harsh reality that the entire Democratic nominating process and convention rules are controlled by progressive delegates who have little understanding of the true diversity of this country or what it takes to win a national election.”

“At the end of the day, the only thing worse for the Democratic Party than going into Election Day with Joe Biden as its nominee is to watch helplessly as Joe Biden falls off the ticket and the party is engulfed in the cannibalistic chaos that is sure to ensue,” he later added.

Biden’s poor performance in last week’s debate with former President Donald Trump has raised concerns within his own party about whether he will be able to serve another four years in office. For much of the 90-minute debate, the president’s voice was raspy, he frequently paused and he at times seemed to lose his train of thought and struggle to gather his thoughts.

Biden has already won the primary and secured a majority of delegates, so he cannot be easily ousted at the Democratic National Convention in August. The final decision is up to Biden, and his campaign said last week that he’s not going anywhere.

Under Democratic National Committee (DNC) rules, delegates won by Biden must pledge their support for the nomination unless Biden resigns himself. The DNC could change its rules to block Biden before the convention begins on August 19, but that seems highly unlikely given the party’s current dynamics.

Budowicz noted that the Biden campaign has millions of dollars in campaign funds that cannot be transferred to an alternative candidate, who would have to start from scratch just months before the general election.

He predicted the DNC will try to “bend all the rules” to push a new candidate, who also needs to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for his campaign.

Amid the possible chaos, Budowicz said Republicans should remain focused on Trump’s “most disciplined, intelligent and resoundingly precise debate performance ever.”

“So no matter which way Democrats choose to lose, it’s Trump’s message of prosperity and American greatness that will ultimately be decisive in November,” Budowicz said.

Possible candidates to succeed him include Vice President Harris, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and California Governor Gavin Newsom.

The Hill has reached out to the DNC for comment.
