Health Alliance to Discontinue Medicare Advantage Plan

Urbana – Health Alliance has announced that it will cease its Medicare Advantage Plan by December 31, 2025.

This announcement came on Thursday, just three months after Carle Health revealed that the insurer would wrap up all other plans by 2026.

A representative from Karl noted that current Medicare Advantage members’ coverage “will not change until the end of the year.”

Dr. James Leonard, president and CEO of Carl, stated, “Our decision to exit the insurance market is influenced by market dynamics and the complexities of designing sustainable plans for provider-owned health plans.” He also expressed pride in the health plan’s longstanding services, emphasizing its commitment to connecting individuals to trusted care throughout their lives.

According to the company, other Medicare Advantage plans will remain available for patients to explore. For more information on new coverage options, individuals can visit choosecarlehealth.org.

In February, Carle officials indicated that Health Alliance faced economic pressures from various factors, including inflation, rising healthcare service costs, a prevalence of chronic medical conditions, and a growing demand for technology.
