Healthy recipes, home cooking a focus of Sen. Marsha Blackburn, MAHA supporter

R-Tenn as Make America Healthy Again Movement gains new supporters every day. Senator Marsha Blackburn of the group said she is always on-site to make Americans healthier.

“I've told Fox News Digital you're going to eat,” she told Fox News Digital in an interview. (See the video at the top of this article.)

“That's what I did with my kids and grandchildren. I'm making sure I'm not eating processed or super-processed food. The snacks are fresh, and I'm eating fruits and vegetables.” Senator Blackburn said.

Blackburn says that newly confirmed Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as President Donald Trump's Secretary of Health and Human Services, will first look at the FDA and food approval process, and how profits will be used. He said he hopes to investigate.

“I am very grateful that he is looking at health and wellness and not focusing solely on illness care,” the senator said.

“There's a lot we can do on the preventive side. I hope we'll explore more of these options for Americans.”

A passionate chef and bakery, Blackburn said that making food at home has healthier results.

“I believe that by cooking from scratch and making sure you have healthy ingredients, you'll get that good result.”

She is a huge advocate for purchasing produce from farmers markets and grows herb gardens with her family, she said.

“I like to get fresh produce over the summer and then put it in the freezer so that it can be used in cooking all year round,” she said.

She also tries to make the recipe healthier, and one of her husband's favorite dishes is apple pie.

“It's like going into the kitchen and experimenting a bit, looking at the ingredients and doing a science project, and while you have the pie, it helps you make sure it's not expensive. Calories pie.”

“When you make your own mix, there are no preservatives in those mixes. If you buy a mix on the shelf, you know that you're getting a better product, then you're in it. You don't have sugar there because you don't have any drugs,” she said.

Blackburn makes a mix of muffins and corn bread and stores them in large gallon glass jugs.

“My little granddaughter loves blueberry muffins. There's a lot of blueberry muffins making,” she said.

“And when it's birthday time, we make those cakes – and we go to the kitchen and we spend time making cakes together and decorating them.”

1. Grease the shaved pan and insert the bottom half of the pie pastry. Press it down and make sure there is no air underneath it.

2. Chop the nine green apples into large chunks and place in a pot on top of the stove over medium heat.

3. Add one can of frozen apple juice concentrate (“Make sure it's 100% juice,” she says). Mix ¼ cup cornstarch and 1 cup cold water and slowly add to the apple. Add 2 tubs butter, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and cinnamon to add flavor. Mix and combine. Cover and bring to a boil.

4. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, cover it with the top of the pie pastry, sealing the edges of the pie so that they are pinched.

5. Place the pie in a 400°F oven until golden brown.

Heat with ice cream or whipped cream.
