Heartbreaking reason for the death of a 9-year-old girl at a wave pool.

The tragic death of a 9-year-old girl at a wave pool in Hersheypark was officially ruled as a random drowning.

Sofia Svedy was pronounced dead at a hospital last Thursday, following an accident at the well-known water attraction in Pennsylvania.

“The cause of death was determined to be freshwater-related, and the circumstances were coincidental,” reported the Dauphin County Coroner.

The coroner noted that Sofia did not have any prior medical issues leading up to her death.

Witnesses described a horrifying scene where they saw her struggling and rushed over to perform CPR for a few moments before a lifeguard pulled a “limp” Sofia from the wave pool.

“The lifeguard immediately started CPR. The atmosphere was tense as people watched, and he labored intensely for several minutes. It was heartbreaking,” a witness recounted.

Some onlookers speculated that there might have been a medical emergency, not the typical drowning scenario.

Despite efforts to revive her, Sofia succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, prompting authorities to investigate further.

“Our lifeguard team responded immediately upon identifying that a child was in distress, and rescue efforts were continued by our lifeguards, onsite responders, and medical staff,” stated Hershey Entertainment CEO John Lone.

“We are deeply saddened for this child and the family, and we express our heartfelt condolences for their loss.”

Sofia’s obituary mentioned that she had recently completed third grade at Northside Elementary School in Harrisburg.

Described as a bright, kind, and loving girl, Sofia was said to have brought joy to those around her. She loved reading, music, and painting, often sharing her aspiration to become a teacher.
