Heavy rain floods roads, cancels flights across NYC metro region

Heavy rains on Sunday night caused train delays, flight cancellations and major hardship for travellers.

Powerful thunderstorms ripped through three states, flooding roads, creating long queues at airports and dumping 3 to 5 inches of rain across the region. Shocking footage and images showed cars battling rising waters as city officials sounded alerts across the five boroughs.
