Hegseth says Pentagon appealing block on Trump transgender military ban

Defense Secretary Pete Hegses said he is suing a block of executive orders from President Trump.

“We are urging this decision, and we will win,” Heggs said. I said in Wednesday evening post on social platform X.

On Tuesday, US District Judge Ana Reyes stopped Hegseth and other military officials from implementing new policies that would either introduce the president's order or otherwise implement it. Reyes also said that the plaintiff's military status cannot be changed until further orders by the court.

“I'm not surprised to hear that the military is going to appeal. We are very confident in the court's decision. All the evidence in this case shows that trans people meet the standards and have made a significant contribution to ensuring national security.”

According to former president Biden's appointee Reyes, her order was intended to keep military policies around members of transgender services that existed before the president signed “before prioritizing military excellence and preparation.” The judge also continued the order through Friday, allowing the Trump administration time to appeal.

“The courts know that this opinion leads to intense public debate and appeal,” Reyes said in her opinion. “In a healthy democracy, both are positive outcomes.”

“It is a man's claim that he is a woman and his requirement for others to respect this falsehood is not consistent with the humility and selflessness required of a service member,” the executive order states.
