Defense Secretary Pete Hegses welcomed Elon Musk's dogge to the agency, streamlining the process and “putting it on the teeth to cut the tail,” he told the Fox News channel on Sunday.

“We're partnering with them, but that's been behind for a long time. The Department of Defense has a big budget, but we have to take responsibility.”

The former Fox & Friends Weekend host was at the helm at DOD last month after the Senate confirmation slip ended with a tiebreaker for Vice President JD Vance.
Since then, he has overseen Biden-era policy overhauls, including in-agency DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) initiatives. Now, President Trump and Kudji leader Elon Musk are spending overhauls on government agencies.
In a special Super Bowl Sunday interview with Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier, Trump identified the education and defense sector as his next goal:

“The president is right. He's set the pace. It's also right that American taxpayers deserve to know exactly how and where their money will be spent. I'll do it over four years. The fact that we have to commit to an audit is bad enough. The Pentagon should be able to pass the budget right now. Where we spend the dollars,” continued Heggs.
“We need to know when to spend the dollars. We need to know where they are heading, why there is that simple accounting and it didn't exist in the Department of Defense. will fix that.”
