Teenagers Rescued by Coast Guard After Clifftop Ordeal
Over the weekend, two teenagers found themselves in a precarious situation at a well-known tourist destination in Oregon. Thankfully, they’re alive, thanks to a dramatic helicopter rescue performed by the US Coast Guard.
This rescue operation took place near the End Point Recreation Site on Saturday. The teenagers were stuck on a cliff, alongside members of the Lincoln County Fire Department, who had initially responded to the scene.
Reportedly, the Coast Guard received alerts about the situation, prompting their swift response. Footage from the dramatic rescue shows the crew of an MH-60 helicopter successfully retrieving all three individuals from the rocky cliffs, whisking them away from danger along the coastline.
They were subsequently transported to the Siletz Bay State Airfield for further assistance. Official sources noted the popularity of Roads End Point as a coastal attraction.
“Our air crews often train with partner agencies to prepare for various rescue scenarios in the Pacific Northwest,” commented CDR Amanda Denning, the executive officer at Coast Guard Air Station Astoria. “We are incredibly relieved to have been able to rescue and safely transport these individuals.”
