Former President Donald Trump slammed Vice President Kamala Harris for not answering reporters’ questions for 27 days.
Speaking at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Trump compared Harris’ hiding from the press to President Joe Biden’s campaigning in the “basement” of his home during the 2020 presidential election.
As of Friday, Harris had not given an unscripted interview with reporters in 26 days, Breitbart News reported. Harris outlined some economic policy measures in a speech in North Carolina on Friday but did not answer questions.
“She’s not allowed to laugh. Whenever she’s interviewed, she laughs, ‘Ha ha ha,'” Trump told the crowd. “Who’s going to laugh at an interview like that? You know, I’m interviewed all the time. I might laugh. I’ll ask a question about something, or it’s not like a comedy club.”
Trump said of Harris, “This woman is crazy. Everyone says, ‘Be nice.’ Have you ever heard her laugh? That’s the laugh of a crazy person. The laugh of a madman. They forbade her from laughing. I was waiting for her to laugh, because if she laughed, the election would be over.” pic.twitter.com/aAV3NYYnkA

“She starts laughing, and I think that’s one of the reasons she refuses to do interviews. She laughs,” Trump continued. “It’s awful. It’s awful. Look, she hasn’t done an interview in like 30 days, and I’m doing an interview every day.”
Harris has not given a television interview since June 24, 2024, which was reportedly the last time reporters asked her questions at a solo press conference. Was December 2, 2023.
“Don’t you have an obligation to do that when you’re running for office?” Trump continued. “They’re going to try and say, ‘This is what her basement looks like.’ His basement was good because they had COVID and they didn’t want him to get COVID-19… which he ended up doing.”
Trump’s comparison of Harris’ hiding from the media to Biden campaigning in his basement in 2020 was backed up by Biden’s previous admission in an interview with special counsel Robert Hur that he had campaigned in his basement.
