The driver whose yellow cab jumped the curb and struck six pedestrians in a New York City shopping district on Christmas Day was undergoing a medical emergency at the time, police said.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) told FOX News Digital that a 58-year-old taxi driver drove his taxi over the curb and into a group of pedestrians at Herald Square at 6th Avenue and West 34th Street shortly after 4 p.m. He admitted that he had run into him. ET on Christmas Day.
The NYPD did not elaborate on the type of medical emergency, but said the driver was taken to a hospital after the crash and was in stable condition.

Three other people were also hospitalized, police said. Officials said a 9-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with lacerations to his leg. A 41-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with head injuries. A 49-year-old woman was taken to hospital with leg injuries.

The others refused further medical treatment after the accident, police said.
