It is a bonfire of vanity.
Sunshine State officials rejected more than 500 license plate applications in 2023, including those that violated creative but sometimes shoddy vehicle marker regulations.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles says the prohibited plates were either denied on initial application or later recalled after others complained.
Apparently hoping to attract romantic interest from fellow drivers, many applicants casually mentioned their talents and readiness for love.
All plate suggestions like ERECT 10, FATHOSE, BGWANG, B1GDK were rejected along with SEX DOC, WET YET, SUK ME, L0V SEX.
After seemingly confessing, LIL WEWE was devastated.
Several other obscene attempts by clearly female applicants were also rejected, including SHVD KTY and the less graphic MS SEXXY.
Although KIDNAPN, ON METH, MR DUI, C0NMAN 8, 9 GLOCK, and MURRDER did not participate, there were some who strangely tried to share their criminal tendencies with the world.
Another brazen Floridian went a step further and asked for a C0PS LIE placard. Meanwhile, another Floridian thought a C0P CAR plate might help him stand out on the road.
One driver’s SAY GAAY submission referenced Florida’s painful battle over discussion of LGBTQ issues among younger children, which was also rejected.

Some plates have veered into more noticeably unpleasant territory, such as SWASTIK and TRNS KLR.
State officials say orders for personalized plates will be inspected by local government staff for objectionable content. It will then be reviewed again at the state level before approval.
Most failed plates are easy to detect, but sometimes more creative combinations slip through.
According to the National Highway Safety Administration, “If a personalized license plate is issued and later determined to be obscene or offensive, the agency will recall the plate.”
The number of rejected Sunshine State plates has increased since 2021, when 400 applications were denied.
Still, Florida still lags New York in terms of bid bans, with the Empire State recording more than 3,000 rejections in 2023.
