The 10-year-old boy who was injured in a plane crash that occurred in Northeast Philadelphia on Friday has recovered from serious injuries and is talking to his family, his father told ABC 7.
The boy's father, Andre Howard Jr., said he was picking up donuts in his car with three young children when a crash occurred near the outlet Roosevelt Mall. It has been reported on wednesday.
It was a chaotic scene for the family who saw and heard metal fragments hit the vehicle and others hitting the fire.
When Howard Jr. backed up his car, he said that his son Andre was also going under the name Trey, and went into protective mode and covered his sister.
“I turn around and he has metal outside his head,” recalls his father. He tried to stop the bleeding using socks and another man's shirt, and police officers helped them to go to the hospital. When they arrived, the 10-year-old had emergency surgery and medical staff told the family that the boy might not survive the ordeal.
But he fought hard and is now waking up and speaking. His father said his son's first words were to ask if he missed the Super Bowl and to assure young Eagles fans that he didn't miss the big game Ta.
The boy then asked, “Daddy, did I save my sister?” His father added that his son said: I was just trying to help my sister… the next thing I know, I thought I was dead. ”
