A 15-year-old boy is credited with helping save more than 100 people during a terrorist massacre at a Moscow concert hall on Friday.

Teenager Islam Khalilov works as a cloakroom attendant at Crocus Town Hall, where the shooting occurred. His familiarity with the building allowed him to act quickly to guide frightened concertgoers to safety, preventing further deaths in Friday’s massacre.

“At first I heard strange noises on the first floor. I thought a noisy group had arrived,” he explained in a later interview, according to the Daily Mail.

“I knew that if I didn’t react, my life and the lives of many people would be lost. To be honest, I was very scared,” he added.

“Thank God, nothing happened. We managed to open the door in time and get everyone out for the Expo,” he added.

“We were shown and instructed where to send people if something happened. I knew where to take people to keep them safe.” Khalilov said.

“All of this happened right in front of me. To be honest, I’m still in a state of shock. A man was shot right in front of me. I can’t stop thinking about it. ” he concluded.
