‘He’s a monster’: Ex-FBI agent who’s now an ex-state trooper gets life in prison for sexually assaulting 11-year-old girl

A former FBI agent has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl while he was an Alabama state trooper. The convicted child molester was reportedly booted from the FBI after numerous allegations of sexual misconduct, including raping a colleague at knifepoint, and ultimately landed a state trooper job through an allegedly forged letter.

Montgomery County Circuit Judge Jimmy Poole sentenced Christopher Bauer, 45, to life in prison on Thursday.

Despite his dishonorable termination, Bauer allegedly used a forged FBI letter to get a job as an Alabama State Trooper in 2019.

In June, Bauer was convicted of first-degree rape and sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.

Bauer also faces similar child sexual abuse charges in New Orleans. Associated Press Louisiana State Police said they plan to extradite him.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office statement Bauer allegedly sexually abused the girl “over a period of several years” while he was an Alabama state trooper, and in April 2021, the victim reportedly confided in a friend that Bauer had been sexually abusing her since she was five years old.

Two days later, the friend told his mother about the alleged sexual abuse. The mother reported the alleged child sexual assault to school administrators, who immediately contacted Montgomery Police. Bauer was arrested and charged the same day.

“He’s a monster,” the victim’s mother told the judge in court. The girl’s mother said Bauer used his police badge to portray himself as a “good guy.”

“He was fooling everyone,” she added.

During the trial, Bauer denied the allegations of sexually abusing the girl and accused the victim of lying.

“If she said I did something, that’s certainly a lie,” Bauer said.

However, during sentencing, Judge Poole declared that he “believed every word” of the victim’s testimony.

“It is always deeply unfortunate when individuals who are supposed to enforce and protect the law commit crimes against the very people they are sworn to protect, but I do not believe Christopher Bauer reflects the character of the vast majority of law enforcement officers who serve our country. He is an evil individual, a depraved monster who abused his power to cause irreparable harm to an innocent and vulnerable child,” Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey said in a statement.

Bailey continued, “I commend the victim for her courage in coming forward about what was happening to her. Testifying would undoubtedly have been difficult for her, but she was brave throughout her testimony. I hope she and her family can take comfort in knowing that Christopher Bauer will never harm her or anyone else again. My office fought for the maximum sentence in this case, and I thank Judge Jimmy Poole for sentencing this sex offender to life in prison. He should die there.”

Bauer previously worked for the FBI in New Orleans but was reportedly fired by the agency following several allegations of sexual misconduct.

May 2021 Associated Press The article said Bauer was suspended without pay and stripped of his FBI security clearance in late 2018 following a “series of allegations of sexual misconduct,” including an allegation that a colleague raped him at knifepoint.

Despite his dishonorable termination, Bauer allegedly used a forged FBI letter to get a job as an Alabama State Trooper in 2019.

Bauer reportedly wrote in his state trooper application that the FBI has never fired him and has not made any adverse allegations against him.

Bauer allegedly submitted a fake letter from the FBI to the Alabama Department of Law Enforcement stating that he had a 10-year “good service history” and was “eligible for reemployment.”

However, the FBI told the Associated Press that the letter was not legitimate.
