The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced it will reallocate $500 million towards the development of a new generation of non-mRNA Covid-19 vaccines and is also working on a “universal vaccine” aimed at various viruses.

This initiative involves using chemically inactivated entire viruses, which is reminiscent of how influenza vaccines were originally produced; this is intended to create a “universal” solution for multiple virus strains.
“The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the National Institute of Health (NIH) today announced the development of the next-generation, universal vaccine platform known as Generation Gold Standard, utilizing Betapropiolactone (BPL) – a whole virus platform. This includes influenza and coronavirus vaccine candidates like BPL-1357 and BPL-24910.”
“Generation Gold Standard represents a radical change,” stated NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya. “It expands vaccine protection beyond specific strains, equipping us for current and future flu threats—it’s traditional vaccine technology revamped for the 21st century.”
Dr. Robert Malone, noted for developing mRNA technology back in the late 1980s, has lately become quite outspoken against mRNA vaccines. He raises concerns about the experimental nature of these vaccines, highlighting risks associated with spike proteins—which he claims can lead to significant side effects. While his contributions to mRNA technology are undeniable, liberal media has often questioned his expertise. For instance, a 2022 New York Times piece attempted to downplay his warnings, portraying him in a less favorable light.
“As the coronavirus pandemic continues, he [Malone] has highlighted how misinformation about the virus and vaccines has proliferated in conservative media,” the article from April 3, 2022 pointed out.
Looking ahead, the Generation Gold Standard project is set for clinical trials next year, initiating with a universal influenza vaccine aiming for FDA approval by 2029.
This venture involves further research into the “universal” influenza vaccine, co-developed by Dr. Matthew Memory at the NIH. According to the Wall Street Journal, this initiative seeks to provide Americans with a cost-efficient alternative to the Biden administration’s often criticized Nextgen project.
“We’re witnessing a return to former vaccine production methods,” commented Dr. Arnold Mont, co-director of the Center for Respiratory Virus Research and Response at the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
So, while shifting back to traditional vaccine methodologies and scaling down research on Covid-19 vaccines may appear to be a refreshing turn under HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.), it raises its own set of questions.
“Our directive is clear. All innovations in vaccine development must uphold scientific integrity and adhere to the highest safety and efficacy standards,” stated Kennedy.
Kennedy has faced consistent backlash from left-leaning media labeling him “anti-vaccine.” However, he has pushed back against this characterization, clarifying his stance during various Senate confirmations and public forums. According to him, he prioritizes safety over a blanket rejection of vaccines or industry practices.
Additionally, the National Medical Library, overseen by the NIH, recently revealed alarming data related to myocarditis—a condition linked to mRNA Covid-19 vaccines. Reports indicate that in 2021, cases of myocarditis post-vaccination were notably higher—223 times the average for all vaccines in the previous 30 years—leading to a staggering 2500% increase in emergency hospitalizations during that same period.
