Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) employees are being offered up to $25,000 to say goodbye to agencies to help them shrink under President Donald Trump's plan to reduce the federal workforce.
In an email sent Friday, HHS, led by Chief Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said it had received permission from the Department of Personnel Management (OPM) to provide payments for voluntary separation incentives.
The OPM “can allow institutions that are being miniaturized or restructured to offer employees a payment of up to $25,000 as an incentive to voluntarily separate,” according to the email. This incentive is aimed at those in surplus positions or those with skills no longer needed within the department.
