Accusations Against Tyler Perry Studios VP
Actor and U.S. Army veteran Braxton Wells has accused Mark Swinton, the vice president of Tyler Perry Studios, of drugging and raping him three years ago. Wells claims that Swinton attempted to silence him through financial bribery and a non-disclosure agreement.
Wells took to Instagram recently, stating, “I’m not afraid; I don’t think people see me as wrong.” His accusations come on the heels of a lawsuit against Swinton by another actor for sexual assault.
In his posts, Wells expressed his deep frustration, saying, “What you did to me is very illegal. I’m a retired U.S. military veteran living with PTSD and other mental health issues.” He felt compelled to share, “I’m hiding from you all the felony crimes that Mark Swinton committed against me.”
Wells described his experience as overwhelming, detailing, “I was crowded with sexual assault, rape, and drugs, and it’s turned my life upside down.” He added, “Mr. TP, I’m not afraid of you or your lawyer. You will be exposed.”
Through further posts, Wells addressed Perry directly. He accused him of protecting predators within his organization, saying, “You chose silence when darkness crept into your own executives. It’s not faith; it’s a scam.” He highlighted the corruption in Hollywood politics, expressing that even contracts and money can’t obscure the truth.
Citing a biblical quote, Wells proclaimed, “There’s nothing hidden that won’t be revealed.” He stated emphatically, “I will not be silent anymore. Your system has tried to enslave me, but I am free.” He proclaimed his resolve by claiming to possess evidence and truth.
Wells alleges that he reported the incident to the Roswell Police Department in Georgia. He recounted a dinner with Swinton on January 5, 2022, that ended with him feeling “strange” after having another drink at Swinton’s house. He described a feeling of paralysis as events unfolded against his will.
Wells revealed that the day after the alleged assault, Swinton offered him $6,000 via Apple Pay to maintain silence, a gesture that left him feeling angry and embarrassed. He reflected on the emotional turmoil he faced, admitting, “I realized I was raped by Mark E. Swinton,” and noted that fear of being blackballed from Hollywood had kept him quiet for two years.
Following that experience, Wells claimed to have checked into a hotel, stating, “I’m going through this traumatic experience,” and that his mental health significantly declined. He candidly shared, “I’ve been contemplating suicide all along.”
These allegations arise in the context of another actor, Derek Dixon, who has filed a $260 million sexual assault lawsuit against Perry, claiming he was unable to refuse unwanted advances from the mogul.
