Hilaria Baldwin’s Departure from “Dancing with the Stars”
Hilaria Baldwin probably thought her time on “Dancing with the Stars” would help her charm America and overshadow her decade-long masquerade as a Spanish woman. But, well, that didn’t quite happen.
On October 7, she and her partner Gleb Savchenko got the boot, becoming the fourth couple to leave the ABC competition.
Baldwin, who is 41 and has a background in competitive ballroom dancing, seems to have missed the mark. The show is essentially a popularity contest where, let’s be honest, the audience tends to vote for their favorites—unless they’re really offbeat in their dancing.
It seems viewers weren’t fans, perhaps because she has been seen as a narcissist who claimed to be Hilaria from Spain, while, in reality, she’s Hilary from an upscale Boston neighborhood.
For Hilaria, her exit is apparently the result of a vast network of mean girls online, who, she believes, don’t grasp her struggles as a bilingual person.
In a recent podcast episode, she expressed her frustrations in a peculiar accent, stating, “We’re the enemy of each other… my fellow women. It needs to stop.”
Additionally, in an Instagram Live session, she asserted she faced bullying from the show, saying, “So did I, that’s for sure.”
Yet, her narrative was different while competing. Just last month, she claimed that fans encouraged her to join the show.
She mentioned, “Fans started writing into the show… and I thought, really? It was very natural, how did that happen?” But after leaving, she’s cast herself as the victim.
Post-DWTS, she took to various interviews and Instagram Live sessions, delivering more complaints than insightful commentary.
She revealed, almost tearfully, that the world feels changed since meeting her husband Alec Baldwin at 27, lamenting, “They really have been trying to beat me ever since.” It’s a mixed message—feeling overwhelmed by negativity but still engaged with the spotlight.
She spoke about being ready to spend time with her seven children and her husband, though one might wonder if he’s getting the attention he needs after her recent mishap.
Despite these reflections, she continues to plead for understanding, arguing that people are often surprised by the harsh criticism she faces. She claimed, “Actually, I don’t have any negative things to say that break my heart like some people say.”
Still, she felt compelled to add, “There are those who have harassed me and lied about me for years… they will only be happy if I’m gone.”
Interestingly, she seems to ignore the misrepresentation concerns surrounding her identity. In her latest podcast, she tried to dismiss her unusual accent by attributing it to ADHD and dyslexia.
Continuing to promote the narrative of victimization for just being bilingual, she reinforces the idea that it’s solely her struggle.
Recently, her husband Alec had an unsettling incident involving his car, which adds some chaotic context to their lives.
She discussed how speaking multiple languages should be seen as a beautiful trait, arguing that it shouldn’t bring negativity.
In another Instagram segment, when a viewer expressed love for multiculturalism, she hesitantly responded, “I’m devastated by that, but it’s not that deep.”
Her expressions of devastation appear to stem from her ongoing struggle with identity, offering ambiguous insights while attempting to seem genuine.
A person who is secure doesn’t seek validation from strangers and doesn’t chase it. Hilaria has ventured through many avenues trying to shine—be it yoga, a memoir, or a reality show about a tragic incident involving her husband.
Now, on Instagram Live, she’s reading compliments for some validation, but the more she shares, the more she seems out of touch.
Her narrative is beginning to feel like a never-ending cycle of seeking attention.
