The director of the 2020 film based on the book “Hillbilly Elegy” by Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance (R) said he would not vote for former President Trump, even though Vance was vice president. In the posted video Saturday.
“There's no way I'd vote for Donald Trump to be president again, no matter who the vice president is,” Ron Howard said in a video for Variety.
Howard said he was “surprised by some of the positions” in 2022. [Vance has] the actions he took and the words he said.”
“I knew he was a conservative, [he] “He struck me as a very center-right, centrist thinker,” Howard says. He told The Hollywood Reporter at that time.
In a video for Variety, Howard said he was worried about the “speech” of the current GOP field, featuring Trump and Vance, and urged people to “listen to what the candidates are saying right now” rather than forming opinions based on past perceptions of the candidates.
“That's what really matters, it's about who they are as people now,” Howard continued.
