Hochul Slams ‘Unacceptable’ Swastika Taping at Albany GOP Headquarters

Hochul denounces 'unacceptable' taping of swastikas on Albany GOP headquarters

New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) criticized the vandalism of the state GOP headquarters in Albany on Thursday. Authorities report that the damage includes sw, which is individually taped, alongside a message stating, “If this is not what you stand in, prove it.”

“This behavior is unacceptable. No one should engage in violence or destruction to make a political statement,” Hochul stated. She shared on social platform x.

“We are grateful for the Albany Police Department’s swift action to ensure safety and to hold the individual accountable for this disgraceful conduct,” she continued.

Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY) seemed to criticize Democrats for allegedly inciting crime through political comments.

“New Yorkers haven’t forgotten how New York Democrats labeled the Trump Madison Square Garden Rally as resembling Nazis last year, referring to President Trump as ‘Hitler.'” She posted on Facebook with an accompanying image of the properties.

“Americans voted against President Trump, who was overwhelmingly elected for this dangerous rhetoric, at the polls. And now, less than a year later, the Albany headquarters of the New York Republican State Committee has been criminally destroyed with Nazi symbols.

Her remarks seemed to reference comments made by former Democratic vice presidential candidate and Minnesota governor Tim Waltz, who compared Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden last October to a pro-Nazi event from 1939.

State GOP Chair Ed Cox consistently voiced his concerns, calling on New York Democrats to denounce violent acts.

“The vandalism that marked sw on our doors and windows symbolizes the horrors of genocide and was meant to intimidate and silence us,” he stated in a press release.

“This is not just an assault on our party, but a threat to the principles of civil discourse, democracy, and decency,” he emphasized.

New York Democrats expressed similar concerns in a statement following Cox’s remarks.

Democrats faced comparable issues of violence during last year’s presidential election, which led to the closure of field offices in Tempe, Arizona, after three shootings.

“Hatred has no place in our communities, and New York Democrats firmly condemn this shameful and inappropriate conduct,” the statement expressed. “We urge New Yorkers across the political spectrum to reject hatred in all its forms.”

Authorities have yet to apprehend the individual responsible for the vandalism at Albany GOP Headquarters.
