Holland Taylor refuses to work with girlfriend Sarah Paulson

She knows not to mix work with fun.

Holland Taylor revealed at the 2024 Emmy Awards that he never imagined working on a project with his longtime girlfriend Sarah Paulson.

“I can't even imagine,” said Taylor, 81. Speaking to Variety's Mark Malkin During an interview on Monday's red carpet.

“I don't like watching couples do anything, because I'm always conscious of being a couple” and “Two and a Half Men” The graduate continued.

The Hollywood alum said the pair were approached for “one or two” projects, but they turned them down.

Despite Taylor's adamant desire not to work with Paulson, 49, he objected to playing opposite the American Horror Story alum in the 1955 play Chalk Garden. I confessed that I would not.

The show is a murder mystery written by British playwright Enid Bagnold about a child who is shaken when he discovers a gruesome murder in the past of his elderly grandmother, governess, and her caretaker.

Bagnold's show was later made into a film in 1964 starring film legends Deborah Kerr and Hayley Mills.

“That's a very unusual kind of play,” Taylor commented when Malkin said it could happen.

The “Legally Blonde” actress then appeared on the Emmy stage with her son Jon Cryer, who also stars in the film, to pay homage to “Two and a Half Men” and win the Best Supporting Role in a Comedy Series award. He was awarded the Best Actor Award.

Taylor and Paulson, whose 32-year age difference is often talked about, met at a party about 10 years ago and began dating in December 2015. Ms. Paulson understands that her onlookers may see their romance as “unconventional,” but that's not important to her.

“I didn't choose to fall in love with the person I fell in love with. But I think what makes this work interesting for people is because on paper it's unconventional,” Paulson said. I told Elle In 2018.

“For people who are in situations where they're afraid of being misunderstood or judged, they might see me living life as it is for me, just trying to be as real as possible. Hmm. If it inspires others, that's not a bad thing.”

Taylor later joked that it was a “mystery” as to why Paulson was still with her.

“Sarah took me by surprise. I mean, it's not surprising that we love each other and would react this way, but for her to make a commitment like this and for her to share her life with me… is truly a daily surprise,” she told Us Weekly in January 2020. “I'm basically following her lead. I'm blessed.”
