The moment happened after he didn’t recognize the importance of Pat Summitt, the iconic women’s college basketball coach who led the University of Tennessee to eight championships throughout 38 years, finishing with a record of 1,098 wins and 208 losses.
“I had a really attractive boyfriend. He was Mr. Swiss, a bodybuilder,” Rowe recalled, referencing a recent discussion ignited by his appearance at the Little Rock Touchdown Club.
She continued, “We dated for four years, and I mean he was quite the catch. The reason we parted ways was that we were at the ESPYs when Pat Summitt received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. I was cheering loudly, and he asked me, ‘What’s the fuss? She’s just a coach.’ So, we broke up. It’s true—I gave up Mr. Swiss for Pat Summitt.”
This particular ESPY event took place in 2012, the same year Summitt stepped down from coaching after being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s.
Summitt passed away in June 2016 at the age of 64.
During her noteworthy tenure at Tennessee, she achieved an impressive .841 winning percentage and made 18 appearances in the NCAA Tournament’s Final Four.
In 2012, she was honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama.
Recently, footage of Rowe discussing this relationship resurfaced on social media, prompting some fans to reconsider her choice to end it with the bodybuilder.
