Marquise Brown Scores Twice Following Recent Baptism
Last Sunday, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown of the Kansas City Chiefs had a standout performance, scoring two touchdowns. This marks his first such achievement since 2021 when he was playing for the Baltimore Ravens.
Interestingly, he mentioned that this recent success feels especially meaningful, perhaps due to personal reasons.
After the game, he reflected on his recent baptism that took place just two days before. “Glory to God. I just got baptized on Friday, so this weekend has been amazing for me,” he shared with reporters.
Brown also shared a video of his baptism on TikTok, where he revealed that the team’s chaplain, Marcellus Casey, performed the ceremony. His fiancée was baptized by Casey’s wife. Capturing the moment, Brown wrote, “Live for Jesus. Serve others.”
He expressed that he was baptized as a child, but the past year had brought about significant emotional challenges. “At the end of the day, it’s all about ‘don’t worry about the extra stuff.’ I’ve realized I was delaying a lot of important things,” Brown explained. Sharing this journey with his fiancée made it all the more special for him.
Moreover, he added, “Everything that I do to let God know that I am a follower of God is a blessing from God, and I don’t take it for granted.”
In addition to Brown, other players also experienced similar moments over the weekend. For example, Travis Hunter of the Jacksonville Jaguars was baptized just before facing off against the Seattle Seahawks. “It’s Sunday. It’s God’s day. I changed my life to become a better person. This means a lot,” Hunter said.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs are now at full strength, and Brown seems to be settling into a reliable role within their offense, especially with teammates returning from injuries. Despite the unexpected adjustments earlier in the season, he has become an integral part of quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ plans.
Additionally, Terrion Arnold of the Detroit Lions also participated in a baptism this month, highlighting a trend among players focusing on personal faith during their careers.
