Hollywood Producer’s Surprising Political Shift
Brian Grazer, a renowned Hollywood producer known for films like Apollo 13 and Beautiful Mind, has apparently made a striking political turn by deciding to vote for Donald Trump in the upcoming 2024 election, after years of supporting the Democratic party.
A new documentary series on Fox Nation titled The Art of Surge offers an insider look at Trump’s campaign, featuring unexpected appearances by three Oscar winners. Reports from the New York Times indicate that Grazer is seen interacting with Trump in a VIP section during a football game, even taking a photo with him and expressing his decision to support Trump.
In the documentary, Grazer describes feeling somewhat “cancelled” after discussing his Trump vote with someone he knew, particularly when it contrasted with the expectation of voting for Kamala Harris.
He recalled, “All the women looked at me and said, ‘Aren’t you voting for Kamala?’ And I replied, ‘I can’t do that.’ Then one pressed further, asking, ‘You mean you’re voting for Trump?’ And I said, ‘I am!'”
Grazer later characterized himself as a “centrist” who felt adrift under Biden’s presidency, reflecting on how he perceives the change in direction during that time.
In a statement, he mentioned, “As a centrist, I could see Biden’s downward spiral and the lack of clear guidance.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Grazer had previously supported Democrats, including donating to Kamala Harris and raising funds for various Democratic candidates. Notably, he even signed a letter in 2023 expressing gratitude to Biden for his attempts at addressing hostage crises in Gaza.
He co-founded Imagine Entertainment with Ron Howard and has been involved in projects like the film adaptation of J.D. Vance’s memoir, Hillbilly Elegy.
Throughout his career, Grazer has largely been a Democratic donor, with notable contributions to figures such as Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, and Barack Obama. While he has supported a few Republicans over the years, like John McCain and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the majority of his backing has leaned toward the Democratic party.
