Hollywood slammed for pushing young Americans to vote for Biden: ‘The last thing my generation wants’

It’s no secret that President Biden needs the support of younger generations to keep his hopes of staying in the White House for another four years alive, but some say cozying up to veteran Hollywood stars is hardly the best way to garner support.

“The last thing our generation needs is old people telling us who to vote for,” Christian Hodges, a first-time Gen Z voter, said on “Fox & Friends First” on Monday, commenting on Biden’s appearance at a lavish fundraiser in Los Angeles over the weekend.

“The best way for my generation to get noticed is for other young people to notice them. They have to be authentic, relatable and be role models for the rest of their generation,” he added.

Stars including Jack Black, Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Jimmy Kimmel were at the Peacock Theatre on Saturday to root for Biden’s second term. Former President Barack Obama, who also appeared, made a point of talking about young voters.

“If young people re-engage, and are not skeptical of the process, and say, ‘I have the power and I can change the way things work so that it works for my generation and future generations,’ then Joe Biden will be re-elected president of the United States,” he said, to applause.

Biden’s loss of support among younger generations has also raised questions among his fellow Democrats, as many progressives have distanced themselves from him, seeing his views on Israel as inconsistent with their own support for the Palestinians.

Hodges, a Republican, said the Biden administration is hiring “Gen Z surrogates” to urge young people to vote in November’s presidential election, and slammed the “surrogates” as “pathetic.”

“They are just pawns of the propaganda machine, telling old people to vote because that’s what they’re told to say. So at best they [the Biden administration] “There’s no chance of winning Gen Z,” he said.

As for those A-list celebrities, Hodges said their opinions won’t have any influence.

“My generation doesn’t see any of these actors. The best actor is probably Jack Black, but I Googled what movies he’s been in and the best actor is probably the latest Mario movie. But I don’t think my generation even knows what he looks like, because he was just a voice actor in that movie,” he said.

CNN’s Van Jones says young people are angry at Biden not just because of Gaza, but because of the ‘dire’ economic outlook

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal published a story on Sunday arguing that celebrity endorsements may not be much help to the president’s reelection hopes.

“So far, the star power has come mainly from people over 50, including some of the 81-year-old president’s closest aides,” the article read, later adding that the Biden campaign is hoping younger stars will come forward to show their support as the showdown with Trump approaches.

“People in the entertainment and political fundraising worlds say some prominent people, particularly those in their 20s and 30s, are shying away from politics at a time of historical division and when the Gaza war has galvanized young Americans,” the Journal added.
