Migrant Children Rescued from Exploitation
Recent statements by border czar Tom Homan reveal alarming numbers regarding migrant children. Under the Biden administration, over 62,000 children who were smuggled into the U.S. without parents have reportedly been rescued from situations of sex trafficking and forced labor.
In a discussion on “Fox & Friends,” Homan asserted that, surprisingly, more than half a million children were smuggled into the country during Biden’s tenure. He emphasized the lack of oversight, claiming that 300,000 of these children had gone missing.
“President Trump made it a priority from day one to track down every one of these children,” Homan noted. “Many are caught in disturbing situations—like sex trafficking and labor abuse.”
“I wish I could share more about the mistreatment we discovered. It’s troubling. President Trump showed his dedication; over 62,000 children have been rescued,” he added.
These remarks follow a nationwide initiative from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that focuses on the welfare of the 450,000 unaccompanied children smuggled across the border and placed with sponsors who had not been properly vetted during this administration, as clarified in a recent Department of Homeland Security (DHS) press announcement.
The initiative, dubbed the UAC Safety Verification Initiative, aims to partner federal immigration agents with local law enforcement. The goal is to conduct welfare checks on these children, ensuring their safety and verifying they are not being exploited.
The DHS release highlighted several cases where unvetted sponsors faced serious criminal charges, including child sexual abuse and attempted homicide.
“Secretary Kristi Noem is leading the charge to rescue and protect the 450,000 unaccompanied children. Many were placed with sponsors who were actually smugglers or traffickers. The Trump administration has been proactive, locating over 24,400 of these children through in-person visits,” stated DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“We are focused on rescuing children who have suffered from trafficking, collaborating closely with state and local authorities. Trump and Noem are committed to ensuring the safety of these children,” she concluded.
The UAC Safety Verification Initiative began in Florida on November 10 and is set to expand nationwide.
