‘Home Alone’ star Macaulay Culkin reflects on child stardom at Walk of Fame ceremony: ‘Always found my light’

‘Home Alone’ star Macaulay Culkin has reflected on his rise to stardom at the age of nine as he was honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On Friday, the 43-year-old actor received his 2,765th star on the sidewalk of historic Hollywood Boulevard. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Culkin weighed in on whether he knew starring in the 1990 classic would lead him to this moment.

“I was nine years old, so you have to look at things from that perspective,” he said at the ceremony. “You don’t know what’s going on.

“So you’re a mean kid and I just showed up.”

“I always knew my lines. I always tried to find my light and be professional and charming at the same time. That was the best I could do.”

Earlier this month, Culkin competed on “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” and lost to “Saturday Night Live” star Rachel Dratch by a dollar. During an interview with Fox News Digital, the New York native joked that 42 times were trivia tips for the long-running game show.

“Douglas Adams would be very proud,” he quipped, referring to the author of “Douglas Adams.” “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” In Adams’ 1979 comedy his science fiction book, the number 42 has become “the answer to the ultimate question about life, the universe, and everything.”

Culkin also shared his thoughts on being a mainstay of pop culture for over 30 years.

“When it comes to my life and stuff, I can’t equate it to anyone else,” Culkin said. “When it comes to things like that, you look left and right and you don’t find many peers.

“This is my life as usual. But at the same time, I’m honored and I think it’s pretty cool. It also makes me boring.

“I can be a part of that,” Culkin added. “cool.”

Also in attendance at the ceremony was his fiancée Brenda Song, 35, whom he met on the set of the 2019 movie “Changeland” and began dating in 2017.

The couple made their first red carpet appearance with their children. Culkin and Song have a 2-year-old son, Dakota, and a baby son, whom Culkin’s brother Kieran Culkin confirmed in an interview with Access Hollywood in March.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Culkin thanked his longtime delegates and then gave a moving tribute to Mr. Song and his children.

Culkin ended his speech by mentioning one of the most famous lines from Home Alone character Kevin McCallister.

“In the spirit of the holiday season, I just want to say, ‘Merry Christmas, you filthy animals,'” he told the crowd, who laughed and applauded.

At the ceremony, Culkin was reunited with his on-screen mother Catherine O’Hara, with whom he co-starred in the original film and the 1992 sequel, Home Alone: ​​Lost in New York.

The 69-year-old actress presented Culkin with the lead role, praising him for his “flawless performance” in “Home Alone.”

“I know you worked really hard, but you made acting seem like the most natural thing in the world,” the “Schitt’s Creek” star added.

Later in his speech, O’Hara mentioned Culkin’s rapid rise to fame after starring in the classic holiday movie.

“This beautiful 10-year-old boy was being called a superstar, a moneymaker and one of the hottest leading young men in Hollywood,” she said. “How can anyone survive that?”

O’Hara said Culkin’s sense of humor was “an expression of a child’s intelligence and the key to survival at any age.”

Natasha Lyonne, who co-starred with Culkin in 2003’s Party Monster, also paid tribute to him in a speech. Also in attendance at the ceremony were “Changeland” director and screenwriter Seth Green and Paris Jackson, the daughter of the late Michael Jackson and Culkin’s goddaughter.
