More than 580,000 beds sold at retailers including Walmart, Wayfair and Overstock.com were recalled after reports of them breaking during use.
Consumer Product Safety Commission stated in the recall notice Home Design's upholstered platform bed frames “may sag or collapse during use, posing a risk of falls and injury to consumers,” the company said in a post Thursday.
The Silver Lake, Ind.-based furniture wholesaler said it had received 128 reports of broken beds, 36 of which resulted in unspecified injuries.
According to the CPSC, the defective beds were sold between July 2018 and November 2023 on Walmart, Wayfair, and Overstock's respective websites for between $100 and $300.
On Home Design Inc.'s website, the company urges consumers to “immediately stop using the recalled beds and contact Home Design Inc. for a free repair kit.”
Customers are asked to send Home Design a photo of the bed or a copy of the proof of purchase and a photo of the legal label on the back of the headrest.
