Tragic Details Emerge About Glendale Firefighter and His Wife’s Death
New and devastating information has come to light regarding a Glendale first responder and the tragic death of his wife. This includes a touching video of the couple enjoying smoothies while donning firefighter hats.
What started as a joyful 10-year marriage took a horrific turn when Andrew Jimenez, 45, was arrested on murder charges for allegedly killing his 55-year-old wife, Mayra, potentially with an axe.
Andrew and Mayra exchanged vows in 2014 in a small ceremony surrounded by family and friends, a video shared online revealed, giving a nod to his ambitious firefighting career.
In footage, Andrew is seen lovingly adjusting Mayra’s firefighter hat, fixing his own, and sharing a sweet kiss with her.
Another clip circulating on social media showcases Andrew breakdancing with friends on the dance floor, capturing a lighter side of their lives together.
Friends and family have described the couple as humorous and kind, with a shared love for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Andrew began his career with the Glendale Fire Department as a paramedic on April 28, 2008, before becoming a firefighter.
He co-founded a GoFundMe campaign alongside a friend to assist with rebuilding efforts in Los Angeles after recent wildfires.
Mayra was a cherished first-grade teacher and also served as an ordained minister. Her official bio reflected her commitment: “It would be my honor to officiate your wedding. I’m here to make your day memorable and emotional for everyone involved.”
The couple resided in an eclectic North Hollywood apartment complex.
According to police reports, around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Andrew approached the LAPD Northeast Community Police Station, requesting a welfare check on his wife.
Officers then found her body, showing signs of “blunt force trauma,” and sources indicate she had been bludgeoned to death, presumably with an axe.
Following this discovery, Andrew was arrested on murder charges with bail set at $2 million.
His attorney, Jose Romero, revealed that Andrew had discovered a diary belonging to Mayra, which indicated she had been having an affair prior to her death, leaving friends and family stunned.
“I was in shock when I woke up…I had no idea there was any issue, or any domestic problem,” neighbor Kelson Zell shared, noting he never heard any arguments between the couple.
Exclusive footage shows relatives gathered outside their home on Satsuma Street, visibly upset and comforting one another as body bags were taken away.
