Homemade towing attempt goes wrong as a runaway car hits a restaurant in Washington.

Surveillance footage revealed a chaotic incident at a university in Washington state, where a car repeatedly crashed into the same storefront and then left the scene.

Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 6 a.m. on July 30 after receiving reports of the vehicle colliding with the Pho and Teriyaki restaurant.

While the maroon sedan was no longer inside the building, it was found abandoned nearby in the parking lot.

An investigation, including the analysis of surveillance video, indicated that the driver had parked near an Autozone in the strip mall around 5:45 p.m. the previous day.

The driver reportedly informed a store employee that he would return to tow the car.

At roughly 3:45 a.m., video footage captured a white Honda Pilot trying to back up the broken vehicle in an attempt to tow it away.

About an hour and a half later, the vehicle was extracted from the food stall using tow straps, but those straps snapped while towing it across the parking lot.

After the straps broke twice, the car began to roll towards the building. The driver attempted to halt its movement, but it struck the restaurant anyway.

Undeterred, the driver tried once more, moving the car towards the lot’s exit before the strap fell apart for the third time, sending the sedan back toward the restaurant.

During this final attempt, the driver and a female passenger released the vehicle and maneuvered it towards the exit, but it ended up bumping against a retaining wall and a curb.

Ultimately, the suspect abandoned the car and left the area.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, this incident is being treated as a hit-and-run.

Inquiries made by Fox News Digital about any arrest or charges have yet to be addressed by the sheriff’s office.

Despite the attempts to manage the situation, the restaurant sustained significant damage, and the investigation remains ongoing.
